Vintage Tractor Run.
Twenty-eight Vintage Tractors assemble at Kilflynn village for the inaugural Kilflynn Vintage Tractor run on Sunday 19th June. The well organised 20 mile run started in Kilflynn Village passing though Glenballyma, Tullig, Kilfeighney, Clandouglas, Lishane, Dromclough, We stopped in Mc Carthy’s Bar, Finuge, to quench the thirst, before returning to base passing Bealcella, Ballyrehan, Crotta, Dromakee, Castletown along the way arriving back in Kilflynn village just in time to watch the Munster Senior football semi final between Limerick and Kerry in Parker’s Bar. As we drove along their way, we were greeted enthusiastically by other road-users and sightseers. The Vintage Tractors looked splendid, the effort, that goes into these machines is simply amazing, paint-work shining and working parts not just working but purring like a Jaguar, only louder. Over €3,500 was raised for the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland North Kerry Branch. So there is more to This than just a bunch of vintage enthusiasts driving around and showing off their pride and joy. The Kilflynn vintage club would like to thank all that participated and raised money for a very worthy cause, to everyone who supported the event, and to Parker’s bar for provided an excellent Barbecue.

Football
Under 14 Champs

Congratulations to the Abbeydorney U14 team who won the club’s first underage trophy of the year, when they captured the County League title last week-end. Milltown-Listry provided the opposition in the Final, which was played in ideal conditions in Kerins O’Rahilly’s pitch. This game look set to be a close encounter as only 1 pt seperated the teams when they met earlier in the competition. The opening 20 mins proved just that, but just before the break, our girls kicked some fine scores and went into the break leading by 5pts. On the resumption of play, the girls continued where they had left off in the first half. They played outstanding football scoring 3-6 in the second half alone. The game ended on a scoreline of 6-8 to 2-2. After the game, Gerry O’Mahony, from the Kerry Ladies Football Board presented the trophy to the winning captain, Claire Dwyer. The panel of players involved on the day were : Emma Horgan, Megan Sheehan, Julie McGrath, Rosie Young, Louise Moriarty, Laura Dunne, Tara O’Sullivan, Sinead Mackessy, Claire Dwyer, Capt., Emma Hayes, Charlene Curran, Marie O’Mahony, Deirdre Lawlor, Meletha Foran, Grace Wrenn, Jula Lynne, Saidbh Horgan, Maggie Everett, Katie O’Regan, Claire Reidy, Anna O’Halloran.
